I can't believe I joined this knit-a-long hosted by jen at piddleloop (I would put the link in but I don't know how to do that yet - Can someone teach me?) Anyway, she invited me to join and I did (even though I've only knitted 4 scarves using only the knit stitch!) So, last night I spent HOURS just trying to understand the "turkish cast on" I finally got it after about 15 tries! I was so happy! Then I got stuck when the directions said to "place marker and join." I was like, "What? Where do I place the marker and what do I join?" Ha! Ha! I am such and infantile beginner knitter! Anyway, I looked through some of my books and finally got it figured out. But not before knitting about 15 rows completely wrong (without joining anything). I looked at what I was doing and I looked at the picture of what it was supposed to look like and knew something was definitely wrong! Anyhow, I think I have the hang of it now. This is a picture of where I'm at. I took it because I could ruin the whole thing on the next step! Yikes! I'm so happy I got this far though - thanks jen!
This is the link to the knit-a-long blog http://piddleloop.com/kal/ (thanks erin for the tip on how to put a link in!)
p.s. i don't know the shortcut method of making links i code them in HTML by hand i'd teach you that but it's more confusing that what erin told you..that's the shortcut

It looks great! If you ever get stuck though, feel free to drop me an email.
There is a button in the top bar where you compose your post. It looks like a couple of chain links. To put up a link, highlight the words you want to use a a link, then click this link button. A window pops up and asks you for the url.
Hope that's helpful
