Nails or No Nails?

I just found a crack in my left index finger nail.  I saw a recent Martha Stewart segment (her new show) and her celebrety guest couldn't quite do the project because of her long nails.  Martha said that crafters don't have nails and proceeded to show her neatly trimmed short nails.  I just decided that, that is the excuse I am now going to use.  I cannot seem to grow my nails.  My nails are small and so thin!  I received a nail kit produced by "etre" from a friend for Christmas.  I rarely/never have nail polish on so this kit is for "natural beauty" to smooth and shine your natural nails.  Well, it does make them shiny, but it makes them thinner too!  With my already extremely thin nails, they're now very sharp and thin (like knives almost!)  I give up.  I'm going to cut my nails.

Have you ever gotten a little crack in your fingernail and then snagged it on something, and had the crack rip into the meat of your finger??? Oh, man...
