I decided to try this ribbed beanie for my next project. It's knitted. I was going to try the Jayne's Hat after seeing it on Barb's blog. She did such a great job! But I found this pattern here and thought it might be easier for me. I have no idea though, but it says," . . .even drunk Uncle Leopold can do it."
I already had to take it off a couple several of times just in the cast on! I didn't know how much tail to leave for the long tail cast on. First, I left too little so I didn't have enough to finish. Then I left way too much. The third time it was still too long and I didn't want to waste any yarn so I did it again. The fourth time, it still was a bit too long but I decided to cut off the 2 feet of extra! This is the first time I'm knitting with wool. It's my first time kniting with circular needles. I'm also trying continental knitting for the first time! I had to watch the video on knitting and purling at least about 5 times each before I was sure I was doing it correctly. Oiyy! I finally got it going and did about 3 or four rows, but had to leave to pick up J from school. I decided to push the knitting toward the center so it wouldn't come off. I should have finished off the row - duh. When I got back home, I picked up the knitting and continued. When I got to the end of the row . . . you guessed it . . . I had knit on the wrong side! Now I had an extra row of stitches only on half of the row. Aiyyy. I had to take it off, but in doing that I must have dropped a stitch somewhere, so I had to take off an extra row. I think it's okay now. I don't want to look too closely. Anyway, here is a pic of where I am now:
And I'm NOT drunk!! :)
